One piece of advice you should adhere to is the one on drinking and driving.  Florida has one of the highest no tolerance to drink driving in the USA.  Don't even risk having that one drink on the flight. Fines range from 250$ to $500 or more.

Plan your trip, particularly if you are going to use the expressway or highway.  You need to know where to get on and off and this can be tricky if you are not sure where you are going as the traffic will probably be moving at maximum speed.

There are no stop signs, traffic lights etc. on these roads so they are great for getting around on easily (if you know your route). 

If you break down on the expressway get yourself and your passengers out of the vehicle and into a safe position as soon as possible.  Put on your hazard lights and raise the bonnet of your car.
