Southwest Fort Myers Airport is on Florida's Gulf Coast 16km southeast of Fort Myers, with quick and easy access to Naples and the surrounding region. It was certified for operation in May 1983 and now handles more than 7.5 million passengers every year. It ranks among the 50 busiest airports in the USA and is well above the national average for both historic and projected growth.

Over 20 US. and international airlines book flights through Southwest Fort Myers Airport which offers daily nonstop flights to more than 30 international destinations. The airport recently added a new terminal complex to meet increased passenger demand.

To get to the airport take Ben Hill Griffin Parkway/Treeline Avenue Extension (east of I-75) between Daniel's Parkway (Exit 131) and Alico Road (Exit 128). Turn east onto the new Terminal Access Road.

There are eight car hire companies located in the parking garage on the ground floor of the airport. When you have gone through arrivals and collected your luggage, walk straight across the street from the terminal building and the car hire is immediately in front of you.

Return car hire is on the lower level of the parking garage, so follow the signs for Car Rental as you approach the airport.

Taxi rates from Southwest Florida International Airport are defined by zones, not meters. The rates to the zones are regulated by the Port Authority and cannot exceed the rates listed. They are valid for up to three passengers; and each additional passenger is $10. Taxis at Fort Myers Airport and can be booked in advance or upon arrival at the ground transportation booth, which is situated between the terminal and the short-term car park.

Lee Tran provides bus transportation between 6:00 am and 22.:00 with an hourly service to a transfer point at Daniel's Parkway and US 41. There is no station or trains at Fort Myers Airport or in Fort Myers itself.  However, you can take a connecting greyhound bus from Fort Myers to Tampa, where you can connect with Amtrak to all other areas of the States.

 

The short term parking garage is located directly across from the terminal with rental car facilities on the ground floor. There is a bureau de change on the second level of the terminal building, and you fill find several ATMs on both the first and second levels. Pay phones are situated throughout the terminal. A postal service and Fed Ex are also available on the second level at the airport. There is a business centre with fax machines and computer laptop connections-.
