Broward County Transit (BCT) buses operate to and from the airport to down town Fort Lauderdale.
You need to take Bus Route 1, which will stop at South East 17th Street and then the final stop is at Broward Central Terminal, which is on North West 2nd Street. The journey time is approximately 20 minutes.

Weekdays: the first bus departs from Bay 4 at the Terminal at 05:45 and operates every 15 minutes. The last bus leaving the terminal is at 23:45
Saturday: the first bus departs the Terminal at 05.30 and operates every half hour. The last bus leaving the Terminal at 23:33
Sunday: the first bus departs the Terminal at 09:00 and operates every half hour. the last bus leaving the Terminal at 23.30.
There is a Customer Service window at the Terminal where you can buy a pass, check on schedules and it also manages lost and found.
